The Ordinary Magic of a Family at Home
If you follow me on Instagram, chances are you saw me raving about this family session.
We were at their home, we did normal activities like playing with Christian's toys and reading books and playing on the bed, and there's just something about the simplicity of it all that lit my photographer's heart on fire.
And I think it's because of the joy and magic that make up each ordinary day. We can find ourselves longing for the perfect outing, or the perfect vacation, the perfectly planned adventure, or even the perfectly dressed, posed, and smiley photo session; yet if we're really honest with ourselves, our hearts find so much joy in the normal, day to day living.
Getting to look back and see glimpses of what life looked like as young parents to your first child is such a gift! As parents, our phone's camera rolls fill up so quickly with the adorable and silly things that our kids do, because we want to capture these moments and remember them forever! And if you're like me, you'll find yourself scrolling through your photos all the time to try and remember, "what was she like at 6 months old?" or "I need to hear his first giggle again!"
It's ordinary because it's daily life, but it's magic because they're our kids and our moments with them. We hear it often - "the days are long but the years are short," and every month that passes, every change you see in your child, you understand that all too well.
This is what lights my heart on fire: capturing moments that I know you'll want to look back on and will make you ache with joy for what was and remind you to hug your baby a little extra and make time to make them giggle everyday!
